Lonely Road Season 02, South America Episode 21 – JURASSIC LARK
Ride deep into wild Patagonia as I explore 150-million-year-old fossilised trees in Jaramillo Petrified Forest National Park, battle the infamous Patagonian wind, and continue north on the legendary Ruta 40.
In this episode of my South America motorcycle adventure, I detour into Argentina’s remote eastern desert to witness the surreal Bosques Petrificados de Jaramillo, where ancient Araucaria mirabilis trees lie frozen in stone since the Jurassic era. From there, I ride through Argentina’s oil country, pass windswept plains and guanaco encounters, overnight in Perito Moreno, and rejoin Ruta 40 toward Río Mayo and Gobernador Costa.
Expect raw Patagonian landscapes, brutal crosswinds, empty highways, drone footage, and the realities of long-distance adventure motorcycling in southern Argentina.
